I’m Makayla King (married name Makayla Johnson), a Colorado native, Army veteran, and full-time real estate professional who believes this business is about people first, not paperwork. I joined the Army at 17 and served six years, and that experience shaped the discipline, problem-solving, and teamwork I bring into real estate every single day. I also understand the VA process firsthand—not only from my own experience but from guiding hundreds of military families through PCS moves, VA loan requirements, and the unique challenges that come with relocating.
After separating from the military, I put myself through school while working full time and became a neuromuscular rehab therapist. Building that business from the ground up taught me accountability, client care, and what it truly means to run a service-based business with integrity. That foundation carried over when I began my second business venture as a real estate agent. Before long, real estate took off so quickly that I couldn’t keep up with my massage clientele—both careers had become full-time on their own.
Real estate won, and I poured everything into becoming the best at my craft. Quality control matters to me. I study the market daily, run detailed pricing models, and oversee every step of a transaction to make sure nothing gets missed. In a market crowded with agents, I stand out because I treat each deal like it’s my own investment. I care about the people attached to the contract, not just the contract itself. Buying or selling a home can change someone’s life, and I never take that lightly.
Eventually, Walt and I combined our strengths and created Valor Home Team—a veteran-led, client-first real estate group built on trust, honesty, and real results. From staging homes for maximum value to negotiating strong deals for buyers, sellers, and investors, I take pride in doing things the right way. I’ve helped families from Rye to Windsor and everywhere in between, and I’ve built a strong network of trusted agents around every major military base to support clients nationwide.
